Dental Insurance coverage, Can you be put to sleep for root canal work

I am told that I need to have a root canal and crown down. My dentist said she could do it but I am wanting to know can I be put to sleep. I hate major dental work and I scared it will hurt alot. Will my dental insurance cover me to be put to sleep and get the root canal. I will I know for sure?

There two things you will want to look into to get your answers. One call the dental office. May general dentist can do root canals but they are normally not putting you to sleep.
They are giving you a local numbing so you should not feel anything and have no pain during the dental process. If you really want to be put to sleep you may need to see an Endodontic which is a dentist that is a specialist in root canal treatments.
That said I can not answer a question about your current dental insurance plan because each plan is different and you would need to check with you insurance company what is and what is not cover. So just give them a call find out about being put to sleep. You also may want to check to make sure you have coverages to see a specialist.
